CoderDojo is a free, community-based computer club for young people. Anyone aged 8 to 17 can visit a Dojo and learn to code.
The sessions at Gravesend Library are free to attend and run on the second Saturday of each month, between 11am and 1pm.
At a session, young people learn to program and develop websites, apps, programs, and games, they build things with code and electronics, they meet like-minded people and show off what they’ve been working on. They use lots of different materials and programmes and children can code using Scratch, HTML/CSS, Python, BBC Micro:Bits, Makey Makey, Littlebits, Ozobots, mBots, 3D printing and designing, and so much more.
Parents/Guardians are asked to stay for the duration of the Dojo with the young people and are encouraged to help out in any way they can.
Projects are set so that children learn at their own pace and you must bring your own laptop to the session.
